Body Sugaring – What it’s all about!

If you haven’t heard of Body Sugaring yet, rest assured you will! This is a service that is soon to hit the beauty industry by storm! So what is it? Body Sugaring is actually an ancient method of hair removal used by the Egyptians, and is a great alternative to waxing!

We all know that waxing has some amazing benefits. It removes the hair from the root which means you can ditch the razor and stop worrying about shaving every day and forget about embarrassing stubble. Those of you with sensitive skin may also suffer from nasty razor burn and painful ingrown hairs, and using depilatory creams can cause serious chemical burns  (trust me, I’ve been there!). So even waxing for you delicate flowers can mean red, tender skin for up to 3 days!

So why Sugar over Wax? Here are 8 advantages of Sugaring:
1. Repeatedly removing hair in the Anagen phase will weaken the follicle wall, eventually causing it to collapse and achieve permanent results over time. (This is also true with waxing, but because we remove the hair with the direction of growth there is less hair breakage and therefore it can be more effective at achieving permanent results.)
2. Sugar is made from natural ingredients – no artificial colours, preservatives or resins – just sugar, water and lemon!
3. Sugar is, by nature, anti-bacterial and contains healing properties.
4. Sugar is applied at body temperature so there is no chance of burning.
5. Sugar is water-soluble so it can be removed from skin, clothing and surfaces with just warm water.
6. Sugar does not and cannot adhere to live skin cells meaning it will never tear or “lift” the skin.
7. Because sugar is removed WITH the direction of hair growth there is little, if any breakage, meaning less tweezing and longer lasting results.
8. Sugar can extract hair as short as 1/16 inch. (It is recommended that the hair be no LONGER than 3/4 of an inch, otherwise it can be uncomfortable to apply the sugar paste, so trimming prior to your sugaring appointment may be necessary).

Since I’ve started sugaring I am a definite convert and so are most (if not all) of the clients who have tried it! My skin is thanking me and so will yours!
